He brings more than 12 years of global commodity and agricultural market experience, combining deep domain expertise as a trained research agronomist and physical trader with over a decade of fundamental and systematic investment management leadership. Les is an early adopter and pioneer in applying agentic AI and large language models to systematic trading strategies, driving efficiencies and generating alpha across global commodities markets.
Les began his career as a physical trader at Gavilon before moving to Merricks Capital as an analyst and trader. He later became Co-Founder and CIO of Imbue Capital, a systematic commodity hedge fund managing capital for a single family office. In this role, he was responsible for investment strategy, research architecture, portfolio construction, and risk governance, delivering strong risk-adjusted returns across diversified agricultural, energy, and metals futures and options portfolios.
At Moreton Capital Partners, Les leads the firm's global systematic commodities strategy, with end-to-end responsibility for investment strategy design, quantitative research, portfolio construction, risk management, and performance outcomes. He sets the firm's investment philosophy and research agenda, oversees model development and deployment, governs capital allocation and risk frameworks, and is accountable for portfolio performance across market cycles. He also works closely with investors on strategy articulation, portfolio positioning, and capital formation.

His experience spans physical, on-the-ground sourcing and trading of commodities through to a Chief Executive role overseeing multi-jurisdictional teams across emerging and developed markets.
Alistair began his career on the sell side, spending nearly a decade across Australia and Hong Kong in institutional banking and global markets roles spanning FX, derivatives, and equities, including positions at Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Macquarie Group. In his early 30s, he left financial markets to pursue entrepreneurial ventures in Asian commodity markets, building and scaling operations across China, Southeast Asia, and Hong Kong in energy, agriculture, and renewables.
At Moreton Capital Partners, Alistair leads the firm's global operating platform and corporate strategy, with responsibility for group financial management, enterprise risk, compliance, governance, counterparty relationships, and investor relations. He works closely with the investment team to ensure operational scalability and disciplined capital management across the business.
